Touring their new album “A Live Transmission” with Bob Fox at the helm… Home Service blend tradition with pulsating folk rock and trenchant brass to create their own unmistakable sound
Home Service is back on the road with Bob Fox at the helm, alongside Graeme Taylor’s fiery lead guitar and a stirring brass section. Their music explores contemporary themes, often through historical settings, and crosses musical genres from folk and classical through to trenchant rock.
Bob Fox joined Home Service in 2023 after John Tams retired and made his debut with the band at Broadstairs Folk Week in 2023. One of the great voices of British folk song, Bob played ‘Songman’ in the National Theatre’s highly successful West End production of War Horse.
Producing three albums in the mid-eighties, including the ground-breaking “Alright Jack”, Home Service toured extensively, but found arguably their biggest audience when they provided music for Bill Bryden’s celebrated production of The Mysteries trilogy, which ran for many years at the National Theatre.
The band made a dramatic return to prominence in 2011 with the best-selling “Live ’86″ album and a string of major festival appearances, following which they won Best Live Act at the 2012 Radio 2 Folk Awards.
Home Service returned to touring in 2024, to great acclaim from their loyal fans, and released a new live album, “A Live Transmission” – the band’s first recording to feature Bob Fox.
