Calling all Playwrights...

PlayLab is an exciting new event, which launches July 2024 at East Riding Theatre.

Our aim is to offer our audiences the opportunity to discover both new and established writers by engaging more people in the live theatre experience.

Whether you are an established or first-time writer, this opportunity is open to anyone who wants to have a go. There are no limits to the creativity or content of your script. Providing that it is either new or previously unproduced and that it can be performed as either a full or one act play. We will also accept play excerpts, providing they are accompanied with a full synopsis.

Please note that PlayLab is for plays only, therefore, on this occasion, poetry or prose will not be considered.

Script Submissions are now open and applications will close at Midday on Friday 15th March 2024.

All entries will be read by our panel of dramaturgs. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by 1st June and performances will take place in July.

The selected plays will be performed within workshops or as rehearsed readings by professional actors with script in hand
