DC Blues hail from the mighty “Ouse Delta” in York

They have been performing their own take on “the blues” since 2012 blending original material with selected covers. The band has opened for notable artists like Nine Below Zero & Dr. Feelgood, and perform blistering sets wherever they play.  They were also nominated for the UK Blues Federation Emerging Act of the Year awards in 2023 and 2024.  They have released two albums to critical acclaim and received national & international airplay for both on countless radio stations.

DC Blues took the roof off the O2 Academy, Sheffield as part of HRH VII and also headlined the Chapel Allerton Arts Festival, Leeds in 2023 to thousands of music lovers.  They were also invited to play at Butlins, Skegness & The Winter Gardens, Blackpool as part of the Great British Rock & Blues Festival by Blues Matters Magazine as well as a main stage appearance at The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival in Colne.

Frontman/Singer & Harmonica player Paul Winn and Bassist Ben Darwin both present the multi-award nominated Radio show “Blues From The Ouse” on York based Jorvik Radio. Paul & Ben have also been running the increasingly popular York Blues Festival since 2019.  Paul also runs “Ryedale Blues Club” from The Milton Rooms in Malton.

“Tight band, great chemistry, and just musicians having fun. What else do you need?”

“Tremendous quality that truly couldn’t be surpassed in terms of style and substance”

“This is what live music is all about: magical moments that you can’t experience in any other musical medium.”

Blues Matters Magazine

“It would be easy to dismiss DC Blues as just another working band on the blues scene, but they are so much more than that.  Their self deprecating front in some ways hides the fact that they are also terrific musicians who just love to put on a great show. Wherever you see DC Blues listed in a “What’s On” guide or on a Festival line up then make sure you go and see them. You will be sure to have a great time”.
